About the Author / Speaker

Chaplain Robert Mills was born in Marlboro, Massachusetts and grew up in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Richmond, Maine; the son of missionaries. After attending Pine Tree Academy in Freeport, Maine, he graduated from college in June of 1990. He worked in small-business development, business law, and youth ministry leadership before attending Seminary and serving as a pastor in Wisconsin for over five years. He entered active duty as a Navy Chaplain in 2008 and has served three tours in Japan; also in Cape Cod, Massachusetts; Newport, Rhode Island; Bremerton, Washington; and Great Lakes, Illinois. He currently serves as the Deputy Chaplain of the United States Coast Guard, serving at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington DC.
Holding a PhD in Organizational Leadership and Master’s Degrees in Divinity and National Security Studies, Chaplain Mills specializes in trauma ministry and leadership education. He is an experienced classical baritone soloist and a private pilot. He is married to the former Virginia Miller, and they have two adult daughters.
